"Marion"

This work was created as part of a series for my 2021 solo-exhibition at 4P Studios in Martinez, GA titled "Generations". It is a portrait of my maternal grandfather, Marion. I used an old photograph taken at a Sunday afternoon get together as reference. I thought he squints like I do. I have eyes that are sensitive to light and, seeing so many photos of him squinting, made me think maybe he is where I got it from. This work also includes maps from his office and fabric from his wife, my grandmother's crafting supplies.
